Mick Simmons :-

John died in hospital 11 February after a short illness. He will be remembered as a key member of Reading CTC and as an Audax organiser.

John was great company and will be sorely missed.

What terribly sad news and thanks for keeping us informed Mick.
 
John Lomas was my introduction to CTC about 15 years ago and I’ll never forget the first 100km+ ride that l went on lead by him but only due to be about 75-80 miles.
 
Gerr, and I think Mike H were on it and had to revive me with malt loaf .
 
After that distance I became addictive as you know only too well.
 
He was a legend and will be missed by countless many.

From 2012 after joining the club and becoming a nascent ride leader, John, as Runs Secretary, was incredibly supportive with my wacky ideas.

I enjoyed the rides he led, enjoyed the committee meetings we had and miss his calming wisdom.

Now I am Runs Secretary, he’s always in the background whispering to me to nag ride leaders to lead rides. RIP John.
